A Nigerian nurse has captured the attention of many after she boldly resigned from her well-paying job in the United States to return home in search of a more fulfilling life.
Judith Okorie, a trained nurse, shocked many when she announced her decision to leave the comfort and stability of life in America to start afresh in Nigeria.
Her story has since gone viral on social media, with many praising her courage and others expressing surprise at her choice.
According to Judith, the decision was deeply personal. In a video shared on TikTok, she revealed that despite having financial security and career growth in the U.S., she felt mentally drained and disconnected from the simple joys of life.
“There is more to life than just chasing money and working round the clock,” she said. “I wanted peace of mind and a better quality of life that didn’t revolve around stress and isolation.”
Judith noted that living in the West often leads to loneliness, with many families and friends living miles apart. She described a life where people hardly see their loved ones, adding that constant hustle leaves little room for rest and connection.
Now back in Nigeria, Judith has reinvented herself as a poultry farmer. Her social media pages showcase her daily life on the farm, where she raises chickens and shares encouraging messages about finding happiness in unexpected places.
“Make everybody leave me… I no go explain too much. Let me focus on these chickens that give me small small money without insult abeg,” she said humorously in a video, drawing widespread attention and admiration.
Her journey has sparked discussions about mental health, work-life balance, and the true meaning of success.
As more Africans in the diaspora reconsider the pressures of life abroad, Judith’s story serves as a powerful reminder that sometimes, a better life isn’t overseas—it’s right at home.
