For many, the American Dream remains just that—a dream.

But for Neh Edelqueen, a resilient and ambitious woman originally from Cameroon, the dream became reality through a journey filled with faith, determination, and grace.

From the moment she received the life-changing email confirming her Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery win to the day she took the Oath of Allegiance, Neh’s story is a testament to what’s possible when preparation meets opportunity.

Neh recalls the moment she entered the DV Lottery as a leap of faith.

“I had no idea it would actually work,” she says. “So many people apply every year, and the odds are slim. But I believed that if it was meant for me, it would happen.”

That belief paid off when she was selected for further processing.

She quickly gathered the required documents, went through interviews, and completed the medical examination—all part of the rigorous process that comes with a DV Lottery win.

Arriving in the United States as a green card holder marked the beginning of a new chapter. Like many immigrants, Neh faced the challenge of adjusting to a new culture, building a network from scratch, and finding meaningful work.

But she remained grounded, taking up jobs, enrolling in courses, and steadily building a life that reflected her values and aspirations.

“Every small step counted,” she says. “It wasn’t always easy, but I kept reminding myself why I came here.”

What sets Neh apart is not just her tenacity, but her commitment to paying it forward. She began sharing her journey on social media, encouraging others not to give up on their immigration dreams.

Her transparency about the process—from green card holder to eventual U.S. citizenship—demystified the journey for many, earning her a loyal following of supporters and fellow dreamers.

After five years of permanent residency, Neh became eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship. She took the civics test, passed her interview, and was eventually invited to a naturalization ceremony—a day she describes as “emotional, humbling, and unforgettable.”

Clad in red, white, and blue, she proudly took the Oath of Allegiance and officially became a citizen of the United States.

“To be honest, I still can’t believe it sometimes,” Neh says with a smile. “From that one DV Lottery entry, my whole life changed. I’m now part of a nation that embraces diversity and offers opportunities for anyone willing to work hard.”

Her story continues to inspire many across Africa and beyond. Through her platforms, Neh shares practical tips, immigration updates, and personal experiences, serving as a beacon of hope for those still in line, waiting for their chance.

Her message? “Never doubt the power of a single decision. One email changed my life. If it can happen for me, it can happen for you too.”
