Nairobi County Chief Lands Officer Cecilia Wangare Koigu Among Five Charged with Fraud

Joseph Wamalwa Murutu, the Chief Lands Officer in Nairobi County, is among five individuals who have been charged with fraud related to the registration of land titles under false pretenses.

The accused individuals, including Murutu, Cecilia Wangare Koigu, Benson Ndegwa Gichohi, Wasonga Sijeyo Ogola, and Jairus Musumba, are facing serious allegations of defrauding the Nairobi Land Registry.

According to the charges, between November 4, 2015, and March 13, 2017, the accused parties were involved in a conspiracy to fraudulently register land titles in Nairobi County.

The fraudulent actions were carried out with the intent to deceive the authorities by submitting forged documents that purportedly showed genuine land ownership.

These documents included a title deed for a parcel of land registered under Title L.R. number 11344/2403, which the accused individuals are alleged to have forged and used to falsely claim ownership of the land.

The charges include making a document without authority, contrary to Section 357(a) of the Penal Code, as well as the uttering of false documents in violation of Section 353 of the Penal Code.
