Kwombo Kibett, who left school early to work as a cattle seller, recently graduated from the esteemed United States Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, marking a significant milestone in his life and career.

Kibett’s path was far from easy. After immigrating to the United States, he began working as a janitor, a humble start that belied his potential. Over 14 years of service, he gradually rose through the military ranks, defying expectations and overcoming numerous challenges.

The graduation ceremony was a joyous occasion attended by family and friends, some of whom traveled from Kenya to witness Kibett’s achievement.

His wife, Chirchir Tio, expressed immense pride in his accomplishments, highlighting the obstacles he overcame along the way.

“As my husband graduates today from the most prestigious and privileged school where few are selected to attend, I can’t help but reminisce about his humble beginnings,” she said.

“Being an immigrant is not easy, but you have to defy the odds for this achievement.”

Kibett acknowledged his wife’s unwavering support, crediting her as his cornerstone throughout his journey.

“A big thank you to Chirchir Tio for being an amazing support system. Your support means the world!” he said, attributing his success to her encouragement and to divine guidance.
