Prominent businessman and political strategist Jimmy Wanjigi has shed light on why he chose to remain hidden in his bunker during a police raid at his home, despite witnessing his family being harassed by the officers.
In a recent press conference, Wanjigi explained that his decision was driven by concerns for his safety, as well as strategic advice from his family.
Wanjigi recounted how the raid was a well-coordinated operation aimed at targeting him, claiming that elements within President William Ruto’s regime were intent on harming him.
According to Wanjigi, he was falsely accused of possessing grenades, a charge he vehemently denies. He emphasized that his only involvement has been in providing help to those in need, and he has never engaged in any criminal activity.
“My decision to stay hidden was not made lightly,” Wanjigi said. “I knew the danger I was in, and my family strongly advised me to remain out of sight. They understood that I was the primary target, and they feared that if I were caught, my life would be in grave danger.”
Wanjigi revealed that his family, including his grandmother, were present in the house during the raid. Despite the harassment and intimidation they faced, his family urged him to stay hidden, believing it was the safest course of action.
“My grandmother and other family members were incredibly strong during the raid. They knew that if the police found me, the consequences could be fatal. They were willing to endure the pressure to protect me,” he added.
While Wanjigi did not disclose the exact location of his hideout, he mentioned that it was within his home, allowing him to observe the entire incident.
He described the situation as intense, with the police making away with some valuables while searching for him.
