Influential Gen Z activist Mercy Tarus has sparked controversy by accusing fellow activist Morara Kebaso of stealing her ideas to profit from fundraising initiatives.
In a series of posts on her X account, Tarus alleged that Kebaso has been exploiting their meetings, where they brainstorm ideas, and using them to gain personal financial advantage.
Tarus, who has been open about her financial struggles, claims that Kebaso has been consulting her frequently, only to implement her concepts without credit.
“You’re desperate because hype is a drug, and you need the temporary high all the time. You are always in my DMs, my call logs, consulting, then you go out and shine with things that don’t belong to you,” she wrote.
The activist, known for her work in youth advocacy and social change, further accused Kebaso of using her “Kenya Ni Home” slogan and executing her plans without understanding the deeper vision.
According to Tarus, Kebaso’s actions have earned him significant attention and financial support, while she has remained sidelined and struggling.
“You cannot keep coming to me for advice and your fake commitment to the ‘movement.’ Then you go out and use my initiative’s name, slogan, and plan to execute a vision you do not understand,” she added.
Tarus expressed frustration, claiming that Kebaso’s success is built on her work, accusing him of acting superior while using her ideas to secure millions through fundraising efforts.
Morara Kebaso has not yet responded to the allegations.
