Former Homa Bay Chief of Staff Charles Odhiambo has been reported missing, weeks after his abrupt dismissal and amid swirling allegations of a scandalous affair involving Governor Gladys Wanga.
According to legal documents filed by Seko Minayo & Company Advocates LLP, Odhiambo’s current status and whereabouts are unknown, raising concerns about his safety and wellbeing.
The formal demand, filed on April 22, 2025, seeks clarification from the Homa Bay County Government regarding Odhiambo’s location.
His disappearance follows his sudden sacking on March 28, 2025, and the controversial reassignment of his duties to Hon. Roselynn Omollah, CECM for Governance, Administration, Communication, and Devolution.
Speculation around Odhiambo’s disappearance has been fueled by earlier social media reports suggesting that he had been attacked and hospitalized.
A viral post alleged that the Governor’s husband had assaulted Odhiambo after finding him in a compromising situation with Governor Wanga. The Governor, however, dismissed these claims as “politically motivated propaganda.”
In a tweet dated March 16, 2025, a user named Ja Loka claimed that Odhiambo was fighting for his life in ICU following a brutal assault.
The post quickly gained traction online, amassing nearly half a million views and intensifying public curiosity about the unfolding drama within the Homa Bay County Executive.
Beyond the personal scandal, legal experts argue that Odhiambo’s dismissal violated constitutional and statutory provisions.
The law firm representing Odhiambo contends that the actions taken exceeded the County Secretary’s powers under Sections 44 and 45 of the County Governments Act, 2012, and have contributed to administrative instability within the County Government.
In her dismissal letter, Governor Wanga accused Odhiambo of “gross misconduct, unethical conduct, and insubordination,” stating that his behavior had tarnished the reputation of the County Executive.
The legal team has issued a seven-day ultimatum demanding a detailed account of Odhiambo’s whereabouts, the specific grounds for his termination, and evidence of adherence to due process.
