Bishop Turned Politician Margaret Wanjiru Reveals Why She Quit Freemasonry to Serve God

Former Starehe MP and founder of Jesus Is Alive Ministries, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, has lifted the lid on a secretive and controversial chapter of her past.

Speaking in an interview on Kameme FM, the outspoken preacher-turned-politician confessed that she once joined the Freemasons in her desperate pursuit of wealth — a decision she later regretted and walked away from after encountering God.

Wanjiru explained that her journey into Freemasonry was driven by financial hardship. At the time, she was struggling to make ends meet and was easily lured by promises of quick riches and financial independence.

“I was looking for money,” she said candidly. “Even when I was with Malboro, everything depended on my salary. Then I was shown that I could have my own money, and that’s when things went south.”

The bishop admitted to dabbling in several secretive organizations, saying that Freemasonry, in her experience, was closely connected to the Illuminati.

“I had joined almost all of them. You would join one and realize it wasn’t good enough, so you’d jump to the next. Back then, there was no talk of the Illuminati. Freemasonry is the Illuminati. The Illuminati is like a branch of it,” she claimed.

She went further to caution Kenyans against being deceived by such groups, stating that some of them are capable of great evil, including ending someone’s life. “They can take you and kill you. There’s nothing they can’t do,” she warned.

Her turning point came one evening when she was out with her brother and his wife. After losing track of them, she found them at a crusade, just as it was about to end.

The preacher at the event singled her out, asking why she was running from God and whether she had done what He instructed. Although she didn’t get saved that night, the encounter planted a seed in her heart.

“I looked at him and felt like he knew everything about me,” Wanjiru recalled. She later reached out to the preacher and took the first steps towards her transformation.
