Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has condemned the Violence in Migori County that saw businessman Jimmy Wanjigi coming under a hail of stones when youths disrupted his roadside rally.
Wanjigi, an ODM member, had planned to meet the party delegates at Maranatha Faith Assemblies Church in Migori Town, but a section of the delegates vowed not to allow him to address the crowd over his recent remarks on Odinga’s suitability in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Angry youths, who were against the planned meeting, started hurling chairs at the ODM officials in migori.
The chaos, left window pannel and chairs broken as blood spluttered on the floors and wall, forcing Police to lob teargas to disperse the rowdy youths.
In a statement posted in the party’s official twitter account, ODM urged the police to ensure culprits are bought to book.
“We have learnt of unfortunate incident of Migori involving Jimmy Wanjigi. The part takes this early opportunity to condemn the incident and urge for tolerance and accommodation of every political view,” ODM said.
Wanjigi had began a four-day tour of Nyanza to seek support for ODM Presidential ticket in next year’s polls.
