The mathematics and physics teacher gained worldwide recognition after winning the 2019 Global Teachers prize that saw thousands of teachers across the world apply for the prestigious award. On his return to Nakuru County, Tabichi was received by residents who chanted his name and sang in praise of the new hero of the small town.
Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui was one of the happy guests of honor who received Peter Tabichi. The governor revealed that there are plans to rename the school that he taught at in honor of him and his good work that he has been doing for the community. It will be renamed to Brother Tabichi Secondary School

Brother Peter Tabichi until his big win, donated a big chunk of his salary to various projects in Nakuru like paying for school fees for students that were from underprivileged backgrounds in his institution.
The teacher is celebrated for his selfless acts and humble nature all over the world. He accredits his father as the man who inspired him to be a teacher and the reason why he became a Franciscan brother.
