Kenyans fascinated as DP William Ruto goes to negotiate for dowry

Away from the limelight of politics and responsibilities of being the country’ s Deputy President, William Ruto is also a family man who turns out to be a good dowry negotiator. On Friday, the DP accompanied his younger brother David Ruto to his dowry negotiation also known as ‘koito’ in Kalenjin, in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu county.

The two were flanked by elders and family members including Ruto’s biological mother. Also in attendance were a number of Uasin Gishu politicians such as Governor Jackson Mandago, MPs Oscar Sudi, Caleb Kostany and Women Rep Gladys Shollei.

The DP led negotiations for his younger brother David who was marrying Carol Kitur.  Koito mainly involves negotiation of dowry by elders and Ruto was in attendance as an elder brother to David.
