Danson Mungatana Arrested

Former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana was on the night of Wednesday, April 10, arrested by Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives over the theft of KSh 51.5 million from Kilifi county.

A statement by the EACC showed the agency undertook investigations over allegations that Kilifi county government had fraudulently paid KSh 51,569,775 to some private companies. They included Daima One Enterprises, Zohali Services Limited, Makegra Supplies Limited, Kilingi Investments Company Limited, Leadership Edge Associated Limited and Johazi Investment Company. The investigations revealed the said companies did not offer any services or supply goods to the county government of Kilifi.

The EACC also established the Local Service Orders used were fake as they did not originate from the county government. Mungatana was arrested in Nairobi and taken to Malindi where he and others will be arraigned at the Malindi law courts. Those arrested alongside him included, businessman Benaya Kisaka Mugavana, businesswoman Lucy Wanjugu Kibogodi and Josephine Felix Mutramba, a former principal accountant
