Popular Ohangla musician Prince Indah has addressed the growing public curiosity surrounding the absence of fellow artist Emma Jalamo at his recent traditional wedding, which was held in Migori.

Many Kenyans had expressed concern over Jalamo’s absence, especially since it is well known that he played a significant role in mentoring Indah and helping him rise to prominence.

However, while appearing in an interview with Oga Obinna, Indah took the opportunity to clarify the situation, emphasizing that the two artists share a strong personal bond that goes far beyond public perception.

“I invited Emma. You know, Emma is my uncle. We have a very, very close relationship — the kind that can’t be fully explained in the media,” Indah stated.

He made it clear that there was no bad blood or tension between them, contrary to speculation from some fans online.

Their connection, he stressed, is deep and familial, and the absence was not a sign of any fallout.

According to Indah, Jalamo was initially set to attend the wedding but had prior work commitments that he simply could not back out of. In fact, he had already canceled similar engagements in anticipation of the event, but ultimately had to make a difficult decision.

“He told me he had an event on Sunday. He had already canceled it twice. Canceling it again would have been too much,” Indah explained. “But trust me, if it was possible, he would have come.”

Indah also extended understanding to others who couldn’t attend. He mentioned that close friends like Wuod Fibi who had valid reasons for their absence, noting that a traditional wedding — or Nyombo, as it’s known in their native language — is a sacred and personal event.

“In our culture, once you invite someone and remind them again and again, it starts to feel like you’re bothering them,” he said. “So I didn’t pressure anyone. But those who couldn’t come explained their reasons.”

He further clarified that not all musicians were invited, pointing out that the event wasn’t intended to be a large music gathering.

“It wasn’t a music festival,” he said.
