TikTok personality and influencer Risperline Otieno, popularly known as Nyako, has landed herself in trouble with Kenyans online after making controversial remarks about Ohangla sensation Prince Indah.
During one of her live sessions, Nyako boldly claimed that the Janabi hitmaker had “started singing like nasal mucus,” suggesting that his recent songs lack depth, energy, and artistic value.
“Ameanza kuimba makamasi, eeh! Tunambembeleza Indah, but we’ll lose him soon. Hakuna kudekeza msanii—if he’s singing nonsense, tunamwambia tu hapo hapo,” Nyako said in a rant that left many fans outraged.
The backlash was swift and unforgiving. Many Kenyans took to TikTok, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) to express their anger, accusing Nyako of jealousy, clout-chasing, and disrespecting one of the pillars of modern Ohangla music.
“Toka hapa na advice zako za takataka,” one user fired back, while another wrote, “Nyako, wewe mwenyewe unaimba ‘tomba matako’ kwa live. Hii siyo critique, ni chuki ya bure.”
Others were more sarcastic.
“Wachana na Indah, wewe tuimbie yako tuskie,” quipped one fan, while another commented, “Prince Indah doesn’t sing makamasi — he sings legacy.”
This isn’t the first time Nyako has taken aim at Prince Indah.
Recently, she criticized his traditional wedding attire, joking that the designer should be fired because she mistook him for a Catholic priest. She even suggested he should have bought a suit from Europe instead.
When local celebrity Oga Obinna urged critics to mind their own business and respect Indah’s choices, Nyako dismissed him, questioning his relevance and even joking about his skincare.
Nyako’s criticisms didn’t stop there.
After Prince Indah’s performance at the Kamba Festival held at Uhuru Gardens, where he entertained the crowd dressed in blue, she questioned his musical direction.
“Does he want to sing in Luo or Kamba? Has he fallen in love with a Kamba lady?” she asked, expressing confusion over his evolving style.
Nyako boldly declared that if she says his music is bad, then it is, promising to keep slamming him despite the backlash.
