The 48-year-old artist was released from prison last week after being incarcerated for nearly thirteen years. Disturbing photos have gone viral on social media, sparking numerous questions about his drastically different appearance.

On Tuesday, Kartel posted a video showing him speaking to his fans after a morning workout session.

“Yes, people, I just finished my morning exercise. We’re taking it one step at a time; I can’t overdo it yet, taking it slowly,” Vybz Kartel said in the video he shared on Instagram.

The dancehall star continued to emphasize the importance of health and family, stating that these are the most crucial things in life.

“Health and family, God is the greatest,” he said.

He also posted more pictures of himself sitting on a sofa at home, expressing how good it feels to be free.

“Freedom Street #GodistheGreatest,” he said.

His recent posts indicate that he has been spending his first few days of freedom reconnecting with family and trying to regain his fitness.

On July 31, 2024, Kartel and three co-defendants were released from prison following a decision by the Jamaican Court of Appeal.

Fans worldwide celebrated seeing the 48-year-old singer reunite with his family and friends after being imprisoned for nearly 13 years. He had been in prison since 2011 after being convicted of the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Upon his release, he was greeted by a crowd of supporters who cheered as he left the prison. However, he wore sunglasses and a scarf to hide his face.

Later, clear photos and videos of the artist emerged, showing his swollen face and neck, which raised concerns among his fans.

It is reported that the dancehall star has been suffering from Graves’ disease and a severe heart condition, which were considered during his release.

During the ruling, it was determined that Graves’ disease posed a clear and present danger to Vybz’s well-being, which seemingly strengthened the decision for his release.

Graves’ disease is an immune system disorder that causes the body to produce too much thyroid hormone, according to the Mayo Clinic. The condition can lead to thyroid eye disease, characterized by bulging eyes.

Additionally, Vybz is also suffering from a heart condition.
