Woman who faked pregnancy at KNH detained

 

A Woman who faked pregnancy with intent to steal babies from the Kenyatta National Hospital was yesterday arraigned with an intention to commit a felony.

Elizabeth Syokimau Musembi was arraigned and presented before a Milimani Law courts senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi under miscellaneous application after she disguised herself a pregnant patient when she visited the national referal hospital on Thursday, September 23.

Investigation corporal Jackline Makumbi of Capitol Hill police post told the Magistrate in her affidavit that the accused was arrested around 6:34 Pm, armed with antenatal booklet to cheat her way into the labour ward.

He said Musembi was disguising herself as a pregnant woman with an intention to steal babies at the hospital.

The police sought five days to detained and take her to Mathari hospital for assessment before charging her.

Whereas, the Magistrate directed the woman be taken for mental examination within three days.

The case will be mentioned on Wednesday.
