Two journalists imposters charged with forgery.

Two men who have been masquerading as media professionals were on Friday charged at the Milimani Law courts for spreading false information and forging press cards

The accused, Thomas Ocheing Owino and Fred Odanga spread false information to James Macharia Maina, an employee in the Public service as Media relations officer at the senate, that they were members of the Media Council of Kenya. They wanted Macharia to allow them to enter KICC.

Appearing before Magistrate David Ndungi, the two denied three counts of giving false information, forgery and uttering a false document contrary to the law.

They allegedly committed the offence on July 9, 2021 at KICC.

They pleaded with the court to be released on bail, saying they publish online content and are not members of the Media Council.

They were released on Sh 50,000 cash bail as they wait for the case to be mentioned on October 8.
