Two police officers have been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery in Dagoretti area, Nairobi.
The two officers, both attached to Spring Valley police station, are being held at Gigiri Police station in Nairobi.
The incident that led to their arrest happened on September 9 at Kioko Area, the alleged officers attempted to rob Stephen Kamotho Kinyanjui who the had handcuffed.
“The man resisted (the robbery attempt) and shouted for help. Members of the public intervened and rescued him,” says a report filled at the Gigiri Police station.
However, the officers managed to escape after the incident, but while fleeing the scene, a pocket phone suspected to belong to one of the suspect fell. The phone was later retrieved by fellow police officers from Kikuyu police station who used in identifying the suspect.
“They have been arrested and detained at Gigiri Police station awaiting collection by DCI officers from Kikuyu station,” said the report.
A Jericho pistol loaded with 15 bullets and a Ceska pistol were recovered from the suspects.
