A police officer in Mutuati, Meru County, has been accused of killing a boda boda operator after refusing to give him a ride.
According to reports, the officer wanted the boda boda man to take him home, but he declined because he was heading to another place.
Sadly, the police officer who is alleged to have been drunk shot the rider in the head injuring him but later succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment at Maua Methodist hospital.
According to Directorate of Criminal Investigation officer, Igembe North, Kelvin Abenga, the officers alleges to have suspected the rider to have stolen the motorcycle.
“One of our officers had suspected the motorcycle to have been stolen and during the process of interrogating the rider, he started turning violent. By bad luck, our officers involuntarily shot him,” he said.
The officer was arrested waiting to be arraigned in court.
