Nairobi woman found guilty of stealing Sh1.4M vehicle

A Makadara court on Thursday found that woman accused of stealing a motor vehicle has a case to answer.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Angela Kithinjo said Damaris Maweu was guilty of an offence where she was accused of stealing motor vehicle registration number KCG 006A, Make Toyota Noah, Valued at 1.4 million.

The property belonged to Judy Mutuku.

The Magistrate further said Damaris was guilty of the offence of obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 312 as read with section 313 of the penal code as the prosecution succeeded in proving that the accused fraudently misrepresented herself in Pw2 that she was in position to sell the car in question knowing very well that the representation was false as she was not the legal owner.
