A man who on Wednesday stabbed a female Laikipia University student, has died at a Nyahururu hospital.
The man, Ezra Kipkorir Koech, who was a fourth year student at Dedan Kimathi University, died on Friday morning while receiving treatment at the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital, after he had sustained stab injuries in the neck and abdomen. Angry students also clobbered him before he was rescued by police officers.
Ezra, attacked a first year student Gertrude Chepkoech, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and English Language Studies who suffered multiple stab during the attack.
A cleaner at the private hospital identified as Lucy Nakiridi said Ezra had visited his girlfriend last week but a disagreement ensued forcing the hostel management and neighbours to intervene.
The hostel management kicked him out and warned him never to return after his girlfriend raised an alarm accusing the man who had travelled from Nakuru of forcing himself into the hostel.
But despite this, Ezra came back and reportedly forced his way into the hostel where he found his girlfriend’s roommate, Ms Chepkoech, in the room.
Nyahururu Sub-county Police commander Mary Kiema said Chepkoech was alone in the hostel, which is located outside the University, when Ezra stormed.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Nyahururu Referral county hospital as police continue with their investigation.
