A man has been sentenced to six months in jail for destroying two television sets owned by his mother.
The suspect, Ronald Kipkemboi was handed the sentence by residents Magistrate William Tulel after pleading guilty.
He was charged with willingly and unlawfully damaging a Haier 55 inch and Sony Bravia 28 inch belonging to his mother, Ruth Chelimo at her house at camp David in Lang’ata.
On the fateful day, the court heard that Kipkemboi had been dropped home by a boda boda rider and wanted his mother to pay the rider.
His mother did not have cash and opted to pay via Mpesa.
Kipkemboi then started an argument with his mother over the mode of payment in which he accused her of refusing to pay the bill.
As a result, he claimed that he is not loved in the family and threatened to destroy a TV set in his mother sitting room and another one in the bedroom and went ahead to execute his threats.
She reported the matter to Lang’ata Police station and Kipkemboi was arrested.
He was jailed without the option of a fine.
