A househelp in Marigat sub-county, Baringo has been arrested by the police for attacking her boss and killing her seven-year-old son.
The househelp identified as Lydiah Kipng’etich is said to have waited until her boss’ husband, a prison warden had left the house to carry out the attack.
After making sure that the husband had left for work, the 24-year-old maid reportedly sneaked into her employer’s bedroom armed with a panga and a rungu where the woman of the house was sleeping.
The DCI says that she attacked the woman in her sleeping with the objects injuring her arms, head, and neck.
“With the man of the house away on duty, the killer nanny had found a perfect time to strike his family,” DCI boss George Kinoti said.
It is the neighbors who heard the woman screaming during the attack that came to her help. By the time the neighbors got into the house, the househelp had already escaped.
“It was in the process of getting the woman ready for the hospital that the neighbors stumbled upon the boy’s body hidden under the bed,” the DCI said.
The neighbors reportedly found the body of the minor no physical injuries but had some blood oozing from his mouth.
Lydiah was arrested hours after she engaged the detectives in a hide-and-seek situation for days. She is currently being held at Marigat Police Station awaiting to be arraigned at Kabarnet Law Courts on Tuesday, October 12.
Lydiah reportedly committed the crime on September 24.
