Blogger Robert Alai charged with injuring Ringtone,granted bail


A popular but controversial blogger Robert Alai has on Monday,August 9th been charged before Kibera senior principle magistrate Philip Mutua for causing harm to gospel artist Alex Apoko allias Ringtone.

Mr Alai was charged with a second count of damaging the musician windscreen,valued Sh 416,000,but denied the charges and was released on sh 1 million bond or a cash bail of 300,000.The case will be mentioned on August 23.

The court further warned the blogger against commenting on the case on social media either directly or through proxies.

“Robert Alai,kindly refrain from commenting on this case or even using proxies to talk about it,”Philip Mutua said while delivering the rule.

Alai was earlier arrested and detained at the Kilimani police station on allegations of beating the artist with a wooden cub.

According to officiall familiar with the situation,the two accused each other of obstruction,in a scuffle that began at Loitoktok road and spread to Likoni road.

In a circulated video,the musician was seen picketing from top of his car before crossing to Mr Alai’s car and demanded an explanation.

In yet another Video,Ringtone appears again with blood on the side of his face and what appears to screatch on his neck.
