Bernard Mwalala facing sacking threats after suffering another defeat against Kariobangi
Ulinzi Stars Headcoach Bernard Mwalala’s job now remains in the balance after suffering their second consecutive defeat of the season.
On Sunday, Sharks recorded their third ever win over Ulinzi Stars as they beat the Soldiers 3-2 at Kasarani Annex.
With the defeat, the Soldiers are without a point after two matches having lost to AFC Leopards in the season opener while Sharks moved to four points.
In the 22nd minute Ulinzi Stars Boniface Muchiri tried to create a chance through a corner kick but it was blocked by the Kariobangi Sharks defense.
The next minute saw Kariobangi Sharks Fredrick Alushula deliver a pass to Fortune Omoto in the penalty area but the attempt for goal missed the target.
Ulinzi Stars Boniface Muchiri opened the scores in the 30th minute, giving his team a 1-0 lead.
Six minutes later, Kevin Munika put Kariobangi Sharks back in the game with an equalizing goal after converting from an awarded free-kick.
In the 42nd minute, Fortune Omoto sent the ball to the back of the net giving Kariobangi Sharks a 2-1 lead. Two minutes later Tyson Otieno added to the Kariobangi Sharks scores after he sent the ball to the upper right of the net area sealing the half time scores at 3-1.
After the break, Ulinzi’s Hillary Simiyu attempted to head in the second goal for his team but it bore no fruit.
In the 63rd minute, Boniface Muchiri made a header attempt for a goal but missed the target, leading to a goal kick.
Hillary Simiyu’s second header attempt at goal bore fruit in the 71st minute, giving Ulinzi Stars their second goal. He tried to bag the equalizing goal in the 92nd minute but the ball went just shy of the post.
The final whistle closed the scores at 3-2, in favor of Kariobangi Sharks.
Meanwhile, at the Ruaraka Grounds, Tusker shined past Nairobi City Stas after beating them 4-1 at the Ruaraka grounds. Later on Kakamega Homeboyz beat KCB 1-0 in the second double header match at the MISC Kasarani Annex.
