Babu Owino’s Statement On Murdered IEBC Official Daniel Musyoka ‘Turns’ Him Into A Suspect
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Tuesday night send his condolence to the family and friends Daniel Musyoka, the IEBC official who was murdered days after he was reported missing.
Through his official social media accounts, Babu noted that he was saddened by the death and urged relevant authorities to bring to book those behind the murder.
“I am saddened by the death of former Embakasi East constituency IEBC Returning Officer Mr.Musyoka.I send my condolences to the family, friends and Colleagues of the late Mr.Musyoka. I urge the relevant authorities to conduct thorough investigations and bring the culprits to book,” he said.
Seconds later, his comments section was flooded with all manner of comments with some suspecting that he had a hand in the murder because of his past encounter with DJ Evolve. Others based their argument on why it had taken him that long to comment on the issue yet initial reports about the murder surfaced on Monday night.
“Babu owino please come clean …we know what you are capable of doing,” One responded to his post on Facebook.
“He was killed for rightfully declaring you the winner of the election,” read another comment.
“Lawyers will start by questioning how you knew it was homicide and not natural death, accident or suicide. RIP,” another Facebook user told him.
Musyoka, who served as the Returning Officer of Embakasi East in the just concluded general elections, went missing on Thursday August 11 moments before he announced winners of MP and MCA seats.
Preliminary reports that indicated that he excused himself from the tallying center at around 9.30 am to pick a call but never returned. CCTV footage by police indicate that Musyoka did not receive any calls and was not trailed by anyone while leaving the center.
His naked body was found dumped deep in a forest in Loitoktok, Kajiado county by herders at around 11 am on Monday. The body was dumped at a galley, which is a seasonal river and had fresh wounds. The murders are believed to be familiar with area judging from where the body was found and the presence of a police post that one has to go through to access the forest. There are however several outlets that they are believed to have used.
The body was positively identified by his family members on Monday evening.
