A debate on what constitutes a peaceful protest has erupted between activist Boniface Mwangi, renowned DJ Soxxy, and Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai. This online tussle comes in the wake of Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya Coalition supporters protesting against the high cost of living in various counties of the country.
The coalition’s leader Raila Odinga had announced that there would be protests every Monday and Thursday until the government meets their demands.
However, during the protests, property has been looted and damaged, leading Mwangi to urge protesters not to destroy or loot public or private property.
He believes that closing roads, chanting, and burning tires that they bought with their own money is part of peaceful protests.
In response, DJ Soxxy questioned Mwangi’s definition of peaceful protests. Alai also joined in the conversation, saying that Mwangi could not understand because he was a DJ. Soxxy called out Alai for attacking his disk jockey job, stating that it was not necessary to validate his point.
