Will Patrick Aussems be fired today evening?

AFC Leopards SC executive summoned the technical bench led by head coach Patrick Aussems to a crisis meeting this evening.

The meeting, according to the team’s Secretary General Gilbert Andugu, will give the technical bench an opportunity to share what is ailing the team in the wake of poor results in the FKF Premier League.

“That is a question that everyone is asking himself but as the management we have called for a meeting with the technical bench this evening to highlight where there is a problem and how we can salvage the situation,” Andugu said.

Andugu has however called on the playing unit to up their game instead of ‘sleeping on the job’.

“But despite that, the players are not up to the task and instead are in a comfort zone to the extent that we don’t have depth from the bench which has made the players feel that they are the only ones around but I will be in the position to expound more after the meeting,” he told Citizen Digital in an interview.

Andugu has also dismissed claims that head coach Patrick Aussems was contemplating throwing in the towel due to the team’s rut of form.

“Those are just online rumours that we have also seen but we have no such information of coach wanting to resign,” said Andugu as he evaded the question on whether has faith in the technical bench.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards assistant coach Tom Juma has called for patience following a losing streak that has put the club in danger of being demoted.

The disastrous run includes a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Bidco United at Nyayo Stadium a fortnight ago, which prompted enraged fans to put more pressure on the club’s management to oust the technical bench.

After Bidco’s third goal, fans became impatient, and anti-riot police who had been deployed during the game were needed to disperse a raucous mob threatening to storm the pitch.

Leopards’ 2-1 loss to Wazito at Muhoroni Stadium over the weekend merely served to add salt to the wound and fanned the flames of an already raging fire.

The result added to the sorrow for head coach Patrick Aussems, a Belgian who is already under pressure to quit Kenya’s oldest club.

However, Juma has prevailed upon their loyal fan base to exercise patience as they frantically strive to put their act together.

“It happens in football. It is true that we are underwhelming and that the club is going through a trying time. We are requesting for patience from our fans despite this,” Juma said.

The seasoned gaffer has attributed their string of losses to inexperience given the club cannot plunge resources into the transfer market to sign quality players at the moment due to an existing Fifa ban imposed in February last year.
