President William Ruto has cleared the Ksh. 1 million hospital bill for Mukami Kimathi, the wife of the late freedom fighter Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi.
The revelation was made by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who visited Mukami Sunday afternoon.
Mukami, who is currently receiving treatment at Nairobi hospital, had called on Kenyans of goodwill to help her offset the hospital bill.
“H.E President @WilliamsRuto has cleared the Hospital Bill; Thank you, President William Ruto, for coming through for Mukami Kimathi and her family. You are a true and genuine friend of our people. Be blessed abundantly. Always,” said DP Gachagua.
Former Mukurweini lawmaker Kabando wa Kabando was quick to take to social media to laud the Deputy President for the quick intervention.
“ASANTE [email protected] for quick response to Mama Mukami Kimathi’s welfare. While sustainable solution to such cases is UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE as pledged @William Ruto (was due within first 100 days), our freedom veterans #MauMau need privileged premium cover,” noted Kabando.
Earlier, Kabando had called on President Ruto to revive the comprehensive welfare benefits that were given to Mukami by ex-President Mwai Kibaki.
