Nick Salat, Secretary General of Kanu, has declared his support for President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza coalition. This comes after a tumultuous period where he was part of the Azimio coalition.
Mr Salat has declared his support for Dr Ruto and the government after previously being left out of the loop following the August General Election. He hopes that by lending his support, it will create a brighter future for everyone in the country.
Though he did not elaborate, his statement seemed to suggest that he had parted ways with Kanu Party, chaired by former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
Mr Salat spoke at the Bomet Green stadium where Dr Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and other leaders attended a Thanksgiving prayer rally. It was an uplifting event that brought hope and inspiration to all who attended.
The crowd erupted into cheers as Mr Salat proclaimed that, despite his previous support for Raila Odinga, he accepted the election results and officially recognized Dr Ruto as the fifth President of Kenya. Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot had invited him to speak and the room was filled with appreciation and respect for Mr Salat’s remarks.

Former Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari has been appointed as the new Kenya Ports Authority board chairman for a period of three years.
In a gazette notice dated January 13, 2023 and signed by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kiipchumba Murkomen, the former legislator takes over from General ( Rtd) Joseph Kibwana whose appointment has been revoked.
The appointment of the former lawmaker takes effect immediately.

Tayari ousted long serving MP Gonzi Rai in 2017 on an ODM party ticket. But in the run up to the August 9, 2022 general election, he decamped from the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga axis and joined the then Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.
In his quest for a second term in office, he ran for re-election on Ruto’s UDA party ticket but lost to the very man he had ousted in 2017.
But being on the right political side, he was assured for a place in the President Ruto Kenya Kwanza adminstration.
