Kenyan soccer on the verge of collapsing as another club set to issue walkover
Uncertainty hangs over Bunyore Starlets’ journey to Thika to honor a Kenyan Women Premier League mid-week fixture against former champions Thika Queens, due to financial constrains.
The Vihiga based side is struggling to cater for their travelling and accommodation expenses, team manager Zachariah Amakhanga has revealed.
Bunyore are scheduled to play Thika on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Thika stadium but they are not sure if they will make it time as by the time of publishing this account, they were yet to leave for Thika.
We are supposed to travel to Thika today but till now we don’t have enough money to cater for transport and other expenses. A week ago we addressed the matter to our sponsors (Vihiga County Government) and through the Minister for Sports this week we were promised that they will meet the County Sports Fund Board this week. Till now we haven’t heard from them.
“For now we just depending on well-wishers and if we get little money then it will force us to travel tonight, play tomorrow and start our journey back immediately as a way of cutting cost. Of course it will however be very tiresome to my players and may lead to poor results.”
Already, Kayole Starlets have confirmed they wont play their match against Vihiga Queena tommorrow.
