The 1st Edition of The Trans West U’23 Youth Football Championship dubbed TYC22 came to a close On 30th December 2022 with Kapsara FC from Cherangany emerging the Champions of this Maiden Cup after a 1-0 win over their all time rivals Bwake FC.
It became a Cherangany sub-county affair after Kamarrow Golden Era from West Pokot and The Kitale School Stars were eliminated from the semis by Bwake and Kapsara respectively.
The championship which was themed on Character,Education and Sports was organised by the online sports and Business Channel,Trans West TV Kenya and powered by The office of the Governor Transnzoia County under the stewardship of H.E Governor George Natembeya, Sports and branding company Zuizi Sports, Mabe Cycle Mart and Suam hardware.
Speaking during the closing ceremony Godricks Kituyi Wanyonyi (Director Trans West Media Consultants) thanked all team managers for the sacrifice and commitment and encouraged local businesses to support the sport even more.
” We have amazing talents around us and its upon us to hold hands with the youth and make them realize their full potential ” said Godricks
International and local scouts used the opportunity to identify talents both on the pitch and via the online links to lin the best players with the opportunities available.
The winners went home with cash awards,a ball a trophy and a home and Away kitty courtesy of the partners and Friends.
The next edition comes December 2023.
