“I’m Sending A Warning To Ruto, This Will Not Continue” Raila Odinga Tells President Ruto

The former second Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya Hon Raila Amolo Odinga is the opposition chief. This is after he was narrowly and controversially defeated during the recently concluded hotly contested 2022 general elections by president William Samoei Arap Ruto. Hon Raila is also the party leader of the Orange Democratic Movement party which is affiliated to the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Movement.

Hon Raila Amolo Odinga has sounded a warning to president William Samoei Arap Ruto after attending the hearing of the Cherera four. According to TV47 News Kenya, Hon Raila Amolo Odinga said that they want to warn president Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance government they they will not sit back and watch a return of dictatorship.

“We want to warn this regime that we will not sit back and watch a return of the ‘Nyayo regime’ by another name.”- Raila Odinga (opposition leader).” Tweeted by TV47 News Kenya

In other news, The hopes of four Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners have been dashed by Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Edwin Sifuna.

Appearing on Citizen TV on November 24, Sifuna revealed that he did not expect the four commissioners’ Justice and Legal Affairs Commission (JLAC) to drop the charges against them.

The JLAC Committee is chaired by the Tharaka Member of Parliament, Murugara George Gitonga.

Of the 15 members of the committee, Azimio’s coalition has 7 despite the apparent cracks between Jubilee and ODM. The jubilee party has 3 strong committee members.

Sifuna also revealed that he did not know the reasons for the petition.

South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, who is a member of the JLAC, told Sivona he was not so about the petitions.

IEBC Vice Chair Juliana Scherrera will be the first commissioner to appear before the committee on Monday, November 28. And it will be Erin Massett

Azimio leaders led by the former prime minister Raila Odinga and Martha Karua attended the JLAC committee sitting at City Hall, where the removal of the four IEBC commissioners kick-started. Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was also present.

The sittings proceeded well but at some point, some Azimio lawmakers led by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and his Ruaraka counterpart TJ Kajwang stormed out claiming that they couldn’t participate in a kangaroo proceeding.

Afterwards, the Azimio leaders did a press conference where they accused Ruto of capturing the independent institutions including; the judiciary, parliament and IEBC.

In his address, Raila Odinga ventilated on the issue of the 2027 general election where he accused Ruto of concentrating more on how he will rig the election instead of unifying Kenyans.
