According to his statement, many articulate Mount Kenyan leaders who supported Hon. Raila Odinga and Martha Karua lost their seats. A weak running mate like Martha Karua, he claimed, would be even worse. For Jubilee leaving the Azimio camp, he claimed that they had made no apologies. Karua, according to him, was unable to secure even 1000 votes. Wambugu claimed that after two terms as president of the region, they are prepared to move on and that they have anticipated the next step the area will take.
After accusing Raila Odinga of nepotism in nominating his daughter, Winnie Odinga, for a position in the East African Legislative Assembly, Mr. Ngunjiri Wambugu made his remarks just a week ago. Despite not stating the criteria, the former lawmaker implied that he ought to have been the one to make the nomination. He stated that “Winnie Odinga’s EALA nomination was improper, according to Azimio and Raila Odinga. It is so depressing. truly heartbreaking Am sad. We backed Raila, but we were denied entry because we lost our seats. It makes me angry.”
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has now made a U-turn, only days after claiming that President William Ruto’s camp was up to something.
The county boss recently claimed that some people close to Ruto are keen on short-changing Mt Kenya, threatening to lead the region in walking out on Ruto.
But he has now made an interesting U-turn, and is now praising Ruto as a man who stands with his word, and with whom Mt Kenya is very safe.
The leader, who said that Mt Kenya leaders are ready to abandon Ruto, now says that they are ready to support the Head of State to the very end.
“But I want to tell you as I stand on this pulpit that when Dr William Samoei Ruto agrees with you on something, he fulfils it. He is a truthful man and we will continue supporting him,” he said on Wednesday, as is reported by the Daily Nation.
The County Chief, who spoke at New Life Church in Nyeri, now blames the alleged plan to short-change Mt Kenya on a few people hidden behind Ruto.
He said that they support the union between Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, who is from the region, asking Mt Kenyans to follow suit.
