Following claims which began circulating Wednesday evening that Mt. Kenya leaders had been humiliatingly embarrassed for hours in the DP’s waiting room at his Karen residence and attributed some quotes to Nyandarua newly elected Women Representative Faith Gitau, the United Democratic Alliance party Secretary General Veronica Maina has finally reacted.
Taking to Twitter, the SG completely kept off the topic, instead deciding to concentrate on the day’s events.
In a brief post about Wednesday’s events, she simply communicated that she attended the meeting which was presided over by the president-elect William Ruto at Karen. Her short tweet read,

Attended inaugural Kenya Kwanza Elected leaders meeting in Karen presided by President elect HE Dr William Ruto.

Prior to the meeting, a media invite by Veronica had welcomed the Fourth Estate to the convention. It read.

“The President-elect and his deputy hereby invite the following categories of newly elected leaders to the first caucus of leaders elected to serve at the Senate, the National Assembly and all elected Governors. This caucus will be convened at the Deputy President’s residence on Wednesday 17, August 2022 at 9am,”

Unconfirmed reports had claimed that DP Ruto had kept Mt Kenya MPs waiting hours on end while he met his kinsmen from Rift Valley.

President-elect William Ruto said, during the post-meeting press briefing, that 10 independent MPs-elect have joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Addressing the elected leaders’ caucus of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, Ruto said the 10 will be working with the Kenya Kwanza leaders to deliver development to the people of Kenya.
“Out of 12 elected independent Members of Parliament, 10 have joined our team,” Ruto said.
Of the 10 who have joined, so far, the identities of 4 has been confirmed.

They include Nambale MP-elect Geoffrey Ekesa Mulanya, Njoroge Kururia MP-elect Gatundu North and Nebart Muriuki, MP-elect Mbeere South.

North Imenti MP-elect Abdul Rahim Dawood has also teamed up with Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
The move by the MPs will help the coalition get more numbers in the National Assembly.

Azimio alliance got the majority seats at the National Assembly leading with 162 seats while Kenya Kwanza got 159 seats.

Ruto had 22 governors, 24 woman representative seats and 24 senate seats.
Azimio coalition had 21 governor seats, 20 woman representative and 23 senate seats in the just concluded August 9 election.
The senate is mandated to pass bills and law- making.
