Hillary Itela is the next Busia Senator whether you like it or not – See the latest opinion poll, numbers don’t lie!

If elections were held today, Busia senatorial aspirant Hillary Itela would win the Busia race.

According to the latest opinion poll released today by an online firm, Itela would get the nod from Busia residents, 4 days to the general elections.

The poll, conducted between 28th July and 3rd August, 2022 in all 7 Constituencies in Busia, with a sample size of 2500 respondents placed Itela in front with 58.2 percent ahead of his closest rivals Okiya Omtatah who polled 24.1 percent.

The comparative analysis of who Busia residents would vote in as senator was a random sampling of respondents distributed proportionate to the population size of areas across all the 7 constituencies in a bid to understand voter preference.

Itela started off his race to the senate meeting women groups and community leaders to drive his agenda as he seeks to occupy the seat which has already attracted various candidates ahead of polls.

Okiya Omtatah defies Raila to endorse Kenya Kwanza’s candidate John Bunyasi

Human rights activist Okiya Omtatah appeared to heading on a collision course with the Orange Democratic Movement Party leader and Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga when he defied his boss and endorses a Kenya Kwanza candidate John Bunyasi in the gubernatorial race.

Omtatah, who was attending a Luhya community meeting in Teso South constituency just days after Raila had toured the area and drummed up support for the Azimio la Umoja candidates and especially his main in the senatorial race Hillary Itela, openly supported the candidature of the ANC candidate John Bunyasi against the Azimio La Umoja fronted candidate Paul Otuoma who was unveiled by Raila as the Azimio candidate for Busia County.

Residents believe that Omtatah was paid by Bunyasi to endorse him having been ignored by Raila when he visited the area few weeks ago.

Omtatah who is broke is struggling to fund his campaigns, heavily relying on well-wishers who some have abandon him having sensed that he is going to lose the election.
