āI am still their head coachā Homeboyzā Mwalala speaks months after sacking reports
Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala has denied sacking reports months after a section of the media reported that Homeboyz Chairman Cleophas Shimanyula had sent Kakamega Homeboyz technical bench packing.
In an interview with Mozzart sports, the youthful tactician says that Homeboyz have kept him pending and are yet to communicate his sacking formally despite openly sourcing for his replacement.
āItās almost a month now since they announced my alleged sacking through the media but they are yet to formally communicate the same to me through formal channels. They have kept me pending because they insist that I stepped aside and wasnāt sacked yet we never had any such discussion officially,ā Mwalala told Mozzart Sport,
āI have tried to request for a meeting to formalize the matter on several occasions to no avail. They are busy looking for a new coach yet we havenāt parted ways formally and this is really unprofessional,ā he added.
The former Bandari tactician guided the Kakamega-based side to a second-place finish last season, losing the title narrowly to Tusker FC but believes it is about time he closes the Homeboyz chapter.
āI did my job diligently, I was always professional and I donāt think I breached my contract in any way. My deal with them expires at the end of August but it is clear that they are moving on and I want to do the same. It is time they formally released me so that I can move on and do other things, thats how professional outfits operate. Itās either they give me a dismissal letter, or we mutually part ways. It is time to bring this chapter to an end,ā he added.
