The August elections race is heating up and all candidates who were cleared by IEBC are holding door to door campaigns to lure more votes on their side.Many leaders have ditched their parties by joining rival party which they feel would stand a better chance for them to be elected.Though many Kenyans are comparing it as a two horse race between the “Azimio La Umoja” coalition which is led by Raila Odinga and Kenya Kwanza Alliance led by deputy president William Ruto
Today deputy president William Ruto has received another huge boost after one of Azimio top ally ditched the coalition and joined his alliance.Former Vihiga county Governor Moses Akaranga who is also a close friend of Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has decided to change his way after a serious consultation with his supporters.The former county boss revealed that he will now be campaigning for Ruto in Vihiga and the entire Western region.
Moses who comes from the Western region which has been Raila’s stronghold for the past elections revealed that the Azimio team has been ignoring him for while. Speaking to the media the popular politician confirmed that Ruto has always been trying to connect with him several times while on the side he is struggling to reach Odinga.
Meanwhile, The next general elections in Kenya will happen in approximately 45 days to go and the political temperatures seems to rise each day with aspirants eyeing for any post now busy with their campaigns in search of Majority votes.
The various research companies carry out opinion polls for different candidates across the country and Mizani Africa has carried out the Kakamega county gubernatorial polls.
The current senator Cleophas Malala, Fernandez Barasa, Cyrus Jirongo, Michael Osundwa, and Samuel Omukoko are among the candidates running for governor of Kakamega. Recent polling by Mizani Africa shows that Cleophas Malala, an associate of Deputy President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, is in second place with 39.0 percent of the vote, followed by Azimio la Umoja candidate Fernandez Barasa with 53.5 percent of the vote.
The other candidates follow with Jirongo having 5.4%, Osundwa 0.9% and Samuel with 0.6%. This shows that the Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement ODM party candidate could be the next Kakamega governor if elections were held today as per the Mizani polls.
