The police in Kisii town are searching for a pastor from the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) church who is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 10-year-old fourth-grade student in the Kiogoro area of Nyaribari Chache constituency on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
The child, reportedly sent by her mother to deliver breakfast she had prepared to Pastor Duke Morang’a of Nyabonda PAG, is said to have been sexually assaulted by the “servant of God” who resides within the church premises.
“It was reported by Kwamboka (not her real name), a resident of Riang’ombenene village, Amariba Ward, that she had sent her daughter to deliver breakfast to Pastor Duke Morang’a of Nyabonda PAG, around 7:30 in the morning. Upon arriving at the church, the pastor directed her to his residence within the church premises, where he allegedly undressed her before sexually assaulting her,” part of the police report read.
After the incident, the pastor allegedly wiped the child’s thighs with a towel, gave her a Sh5 coin, and then let her go.
Upon reaching home, the victim narrated her ordeal to her mother, who reported the incident at the Kiogoro police station, prompting officers to investigate the matter.
Swiftly, they headed to the pastor’s residence, but he was not found as he had reportedly fled to an unknown location.
“We are still searching for the suspect, and it won’t be long before we apprehend him from his hiding place,” said Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases in a phone interview with Taifa Leo Digital.
The victim was taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical examinations.
The police found a towel that was believed to have been used to wipe the thighs of the student and a thermos containing prepared tea in a one-liter container.
