Inside the Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), a young woman named Winnie Smart found herself in a regrettable situation after a seemingly routine avocado purchase turned into a con job, leaving her with two small sacks of avocados and a missing KSh 1000.
Winnie Smart, who works on Kimathi Street, encountered a familiar avocado hawker and decided to support his business.
Little did she know that her act of kindness would result in a distressing experience. The incident happened at around 2 pm when the hawker approached her with his avocado stock.
Trusting the seller, Winnie handed over KSh 1000 for the avocados.
Assured that he could provide change, the hawker handed her the avocados along with the remaining stock and left to fetch the change.
However, as time passed, Winnie grew increasingly concerned. By 5.20 pm, the hawker had not returned, leaving her stranded with the avocados and without her KSh 1000.
Expressing her disappointment, Winnie lamented that the hawker should have at least given her KSh 500 before disappearing to find change.
Winnie took to social media, urging netizens to purchase the avocados to alleviate her situation
