Namanyi Lubanga found himself in legal trouble after being charged in Milimani with failing to settle a bill amounting to Sh 466,965 at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Westlands, Nairobi County.

The complainant, representing the hotel, informed the court that Lubanga had checked in, enjoying both accommodation and breakfast, and had assured the payment would be made once his cheque matured.

However, Lubanga allegedly failed to honor his commitment, leading the hotel to involve the police when they noticed him packing to leave without settling the outstanding bill.

In response to the charges, Lubanga pleaded not guilty before Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe.

Despite the denial, he requested a lenient bond term, which was granted. Lubanga was released on a Sh150,000 bond, with a surety of the same amount.

Lubanga’s defense attorney argued that his client was innocent and had become a victim of circumstances.

According to the lawyer, Lubanga was advised by someone to check in with the assurance that the bill would be settled jointly.

The case is set to be mentioned on the 29th of this month, where further directions will be provided.
