“Jacque Maribe Rants on Social Media After Missing Court Ruling Due to Alleged Sickness

On Friday, January 26, 2024, former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe missed a crucial court hearing where the High Court was set to deliver judgment in the Monica Kimani murder case. Maribe, through her legal representative, sought a postponement, citing illness as the reason for her absence.

Justice Nzioka, presiding over the case, revealed that the judgment was prepared and ready for delivery, but due to Maribe’s health concerns, the court decided to delay the verdict until March 15, 2024.

Shortly after the court ruling, Maribe took to her social media platforms to express her sentiments. Posting on her Instagram stories, she conveyed her displeasure at what she perceived as humiliation over her health condition. “To humiliate someone because of ill health is so wrong. And to make it clear, I have never missed court except once when I was ill,” Maribe wrote, addressing the situation.

In her posts, Maribe questioned the necessity of the delay and defended her previous absence, asserting, “Kwani mwili yangu imejengwa na matofali?” (Is my body built with bricks?) She further clarified that even during her supposed time sought for travel, it was a matter of court etiquette, with no interference intended.

This recent episode is not the first time Maribe expressed dissatisfaction with the legal proceedings. In December, she voiced her frustration when the court postponed the judgment, originally set for January 26, 2024. “It needs to stop. For five years I have respected the court, but this is too much. Justice delayed is justice denied. Stop putting people’s lives in limbo. I’m tired of this,” she wrote on her Instagram stories at that time.
