In a heartbreaking incident on Christmas Eve, a 23-year-old woman in Florida, USA, lost her life in a cold-blooded shooting following a heated argument with her teenage brothers over Christmas presents, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The two siblings responsible for the fatal act were promptly arrested.
Abrielle Baldwin, the victim, was shot in the chest by her 14-year-old brother while holding her baby in a carrier, as revealed by Sheriff Bob Gualtieri during a press conference.
The chilling incident unfolded after the family had gone Christmas shopping with their mother and Baldwin’s two sons, eventually leading to a verbal altercation over holiday gifts at their grandmother’s house.
The disagreement intensified as the siblings quarreled about the distribution of gifts and the allocation of money. Damarcus Coley, the 14-year-old, expressed frustration that his 15-year-old brother, Darcus Coley, was receiving more gifts than him. Despite attempts by Ms. Baldwin to diffuse the argument with a reminder that it was Christmas, tensions escalated.
In a shocking turn of events, the 14-year-old threatened to shoot his sister and her baby before carrying out the cold-hearted act, firing a gunshot that hit Ms.
Baldwin in the chest. Despite sustaining a gunshot wound, the elder sister fell to the ground, while miraculously, her 11-month-old baby, secured in a carrier, remained unharmed.
In a swift response, the 15-year-old brother shot the 14-year-old assailant, who then fled after disposing of the firearm.
While the younger brother is in stable condition at the hospital, Ms. Baldwin was tragically pronounced dead, succumbing to internal bleeding and respiratory distress.
The 15-year-old, due to self-harm statements, has been admitted to a mental health facility and will later be transferred to a juvenile center.
He faces charges of attempted murder and tampering with evidence. The 14-year-old has been charged with murder, child abuse, and possessing a firearm.
