A teacher from Kiharu, Murang’a County, who is alleged to have killed his two children aged 3 and 5, was arrested by police officers in Mombasa on Thursday as he attempted to flee.

Reports indicate that the man, who fled his home after the heinous act, sought food from a resident in Mombasa, revealing his three days of not eating.

The resident recognized him as the person suspected of slitting the throats of his children.

However, the Mombasa native did not alert the suspect; instead, he bought him food and water as requested with the intention of keeping him engaged.

While the teacher was enjoying his meal, the resident called the police, who swiftly arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect.

The suspect was held at the Kongowea Police Station awaiting transfer to Murang’a.

He was charged with venting his anger on the children after a dispute with his wife, who had left their marital home.

On the day of the tragedy, the suspect spoke to his wife for about 10 minutes using his mother’s phone before abruptly ending the call.

He then went to the parent’s house, took the children into a room, and ended their lives using a blunt knife.

Family members and neighbors learned of the tragic news when the children were not seen for several hours.
