The recent tragedy surrounding the death of a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student has sent shockwaves through the community.
The young student was set to graduate on December 7, 2023, but his family discovered him lifeless on what was supposed to be a day of celebration.
According to reports from Royal Media Service’s Citizen Tv, the student was found at their home in Chepseon, Kipkelion East, by a watchman who had gone to check on him in the morning.
The student was lying unconscious in bed with a syringe stuck in his hand, leading investigators to suspect suicide.
The student’s father, a clinician at a local hospital, had provided him with Sh. 15,000 for his graduation.
However, on the eve of the ceremony, the student reportedly approached a watchman, requesting the keys to one of the houses in the Chepseon market area, claiming he needed to take a rest.
It was later discovered that the student had injected himself with an unknown drug in one of the houses. The shock of finding the young graduate-to-be lifeless on the morning of his graduation has left the community grappling with grief and disbelief.
