Gideon Kimaiyo, the Member of Parliament for Keiyo South, is not just a political figure but also a scholar with an impressive academic journey.
On December 21, he added another milestone to his educational accomplishments by graduating from Moi University with his third Master’s degree in Tourism Management.
Kimaiyo’s academic journey began in 1993 when he started his primary education, eventually transitioning to secondary school in 2001.
After successfully completing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a B plain, he delved into the travel industry, pursuing a diploma in airfares and ticketing at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) school.
His commitment to education continued as he enrolled at Kenya Utalii College in 2006, earning a diploma in travel operations.
Subsequently, he embarked on a career in the travel industry, working as a travel consultant for various companies.
In 2010, Kimaiyo joined Kenya Airways as a sales and ticketing executive.
During his tenure at the airline, he didn’t just contribute to the industry but also furthered his education. He pursued a Bachelor of Tourism Management degree at Moi University.
International exposure beckoned in 2014 when Kimaiyo joined Qatar Airways in Doha, where he served as the manager in charge of sales and ticketing for two years.
The experience broadened his perspective, prompting him to pursue higher education on an international scale.
While working, he enrolled in an MBA program at the University of Nairobi and simultaneously pursued a Master’s in International Relations at the United States International University (USIU).
Undeterred by the challenges of a dual master’s program, Kimaiyo showcased his determination to excel in diverse fields.
Not stopping there, he took on the challenge of a PhD in Diplomacy and International Relations at the University of Nairobi.
This solidified his status as a committed academic, a status further underscored when he joined Multimedia University in 2018 as a lecturer in political science.
Kimaiyo’s journey culminated in a successful political career when he secured victory in the 2022 elections, becoming the Member of Parliament for Keiyo South.
