Expect Very High Rainfall from Next Week, MET Office Says

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans to prepare for ongoing rainfall in several parts of the country in the coming week, starting from Tuesday.

The weather forecast from December 5 to December 12 indicates that rain is expected to continue in the highlands of eastern and western parts of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Southeastern Highlands, and the Coast.

Northeastern and Northwest Kenya may experience dry conditions.

Strong winds accompanied by heavy rain may be witnessed in some areas of the Eastern Highlands and Western parts of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Southeastern lowlands.

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and West Pokot counties.

The Northwest region of Kenya includes Turkana and Samburu counties, while the Eastern Highlands of the Rift Valley include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi counties.

Northeastern Kenya comprises Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, while the Southeastern lowlands include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta counties.
