The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga’s ardent supporter, Nuru Okanga, has reportedly been arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Okanga, a vocal political activist who recently sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) at Muslim Primary School in Mumias, Kakamega County, has been a subject of public interest since the KCPE results were announced.

Okanga, who is eyeing the Kholera ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat, had kept the public in suspense regarding his KCPE performance. Despite sitting for the exams, he remained elusive about his results, leading to speculation among netizens.

In a social media post on Wednesday, November 29, Okanga claimed to have been arrested by DCI officers, expressing uncertainty about the reasons for his apprehension. He wrote on Facebook, “I have been arrested and taken to the DCI headquarters. The reason is still unknown.”

However, as of the report, the DCI has not officially confirmed Okanga’s arrest, and some supporters online are sending messages of encouragement to him.

Okanga has a history of arrests, having been apprehended and arraigned multiple times for political statements perceived by the state as breaching the law. The reasons behind his reported recent arrest remain unclear, awaiting official confirmation from law enforcement.
