In a shocking turn of events, the tragic murder of 22-year-old Lucy Boke, a beauty student at Kisii Polytechnic, has revealed disturbing details about her relationship with her alleged killer, Stephen Orengo.
Lucy met a gruesome end on the evening of November 9, succumbing to multiple stab wounds inflicted by Orengo, her boyfriend who had visited her from Isebania.
Recent revelations suggest that the underlying cause of this heinous crime was Lucy’s decision to end the relationship due to familial ties between the two.
According to Citizen TV reports, Lucy and Orengo were related, and their families had actively opposed their union.
“The family of that man has close ties with our family, and we are the ones who actually barred their marriage, and the girl also refused. The man could not take it when our daughter rejected him. That is why he went to murder her,” said Ngwen Mtatiro, Boke’s uncle.
The family also sought government intervention, claiming that the suspect’s family wanted to have Lucy’s body for burial.
Regarding the murder, Mary Akinyi, one of Lucy’s best friends, mentioned that the lovers also had co-parenting issues. Akinyi recounted how the murder was executed, stating that the suspect had trailed Lucy to the house where she was killed.
“When they were walking from school, he trailed her even as the rains pounded. He refused to leave and later forced her into the house, where he started beating her,” said Akinyi.
Meanwhile, the suspect escaped death after an angry mob descended on him following his heinous act. Law enforcers reported being called after a mob attacked the suspect with kicks and blows.
