A middle-aged man is facing severe consequences after allegedly killing his girlfriend after he suspected her for cheating with another man.
The victim, Lucy, a first-year student at Kisii National Polytechnic, was found dead in her Kisii residence by fellow students who had gone to visit her.
Lucy’s lifeless body lying on her bed, surrounded by a pool of blood, bearing knife wounds on the chest and lower abdomen.
Witnesses reported that she had been stabbed approximately seven times.
Reports suggest that the accused boyfriend, who had received a tip-off about his girlfriend’s alleged infidelity, traveled all the way from Kuria to Lucy’s residence in Kisii.
The young man, known for running a business in Kisii and being employed by a local company, allegedly confronted Lucy, leading to a violent altercation that resulted in her tragic death.
As news of the incident spread, an angry mob traced the accused boyfriend, cornering and beating him before the police intervened.
Both the accused and the deceased were reported to hail from Kuria in Migori County.
Lucy, a 22-year-old mother of a nine-month-old baby, has left behind a grieving family and a child without a mother.
The accused man has been taken into police custody as police continue with further investigation.
